The Americas
We are Americans and have therefore been to many parts of America. Mostly
we've documented our trips since we moved to London in 1995 and started
this web site. It's much more exciting to write about our travels further
afield however we are slowly but surely going back in time to document
pre-1995 trips.
Many of these pages are brief, but in early 2000 - when Tara was sorting
through travel documents from 1990 to 2000 in preparation to move, she
was copying dates and facts from papers she found onto the web. Plus, she
was also trying to scan in our favorite older photos --- just in case we
lose all our belongings while they are in storage for one year.
Canada
Vancouver
We visited Vancouver because our
friends Bob & Eileen are living there now. They invited us to Vancouver
and we planned an Alaskan cruise together. We went back to Vancouver at
the start of our World Tour 2000 to see Bob & Eileen on Salt
Spring Island. We also stopped in Vancouver
in January 2001 since it's sort of on the way from Chicago to Hawaii.
United States
Alaska
We took a 7-day Alaskan cruise from Vancouver.
It was wonderful to be with Bob & Eileen again on vacation.
California
We took our first vacation together
to California. We flew into Los Angeles and then drove to San Diego. We've
since been to San Francisco twice together: once for a combined
work/vacation and once to Seth's cousin's Matt's wedding. We were also
in the San Francisco Bay area
to attend Coop's wedding at the start of our World Tour 2000. We again
saw Los Angeles in February 2001 since Seth wanted to visit Disney's newly
opened California Adventure. Plus, Tara has been to both Los Angeles
and San Francisco once for business.
Florida
Can you guess? We go to Florida to visit Walt Disney World. The first
time together in 1992 was because Seth was already working in Florida,
so Tara came down to join him. The second was for our 1st wedding anniversary
just before we moved to London. We flew from Columbus to Chicago to Orlando
on November 5th. We also went back to Florida during our World Tour 2000
for three weeks. We met up with Bob
& Eileen for a week and then stayed by ourselves in Orlando,
Melbourne and Clearwater.
Tara also went to Florida herself for Spring
Break 1988 to visit a friend Pam Fritz who was going to travel school
in Kissimmee. It was a bit of a disaster of a trip!
Georgia
When Tara's Dad retired in 1999, he moved to Mableton, Georgia (a suburb
of Atlanta). Therefore, Mableton was
a stop on our World Tour 2000 - Home for the Holidays.
Hawaii
We went to Hawaii for vacation in 1993.
After staying a few nights in Waikiki, we went to Kahului on Maui. We didn't
like our hotel room there so we rented a car and ended up at The Kea Lani
Hotel in Wailea. was magnificent. So perfect infact that Seth ended up
proposing at sunrise on top of Mount Haleakala one morning. We stayed longer
on Maui than expected, so our tripto The Big Island was very short in 1993.
We went back to Maui exactly one year later to be married at the Kea Lani
Hotel on December 1, 1994! We've also went to Waikiki and Kaui in 1994.
Plus, Hawaii was a stop on our World Tour 2000 when we visited Waikiki,
Pa'ia, Hana
and Kihei.
Illinois
We lived together for five years
in the Chicagoland area before moving to London on the 18th of December
1995. While we lived in London, we came home many times to visit. December
1996, January 24 - 26 (at Ma's + work 'til the 27th), August
1997 & September 1997 since Tara attended two high school reunions
and January 2 - 11, 1998 since Tara's cat Big Mom was sick. Even after
we moved further away, to Tokyo on the 24th of June 1998, we still have
been home to visit: May 1999
since the company paid for our tickets home from Tokyo, Sept
1999 because Seth could take a class in Chicago, May
2000 to "househunt" and June
2000 for a month while Tara worked and waited for money. Chicago
was also a stop on our World Tour 2000 when we were "home for the holidays".
Indiana
We've mostly just driven through Indiana on our way to Ohio. Though once
we did stay a weekend and visit Seth's friend from college, Chad, and his
wife June. And for a few years when we were driving to Seth's parents for
Christmas, we spent a night at a Courtyard hotel with a whirlpool near
Allisonville Road.
Louisiana
We took a weekend trip to New Orleans
on the spur of the moment.
Michigan
We drove from Chicago to Traverse
City around July 4th 199?2? since Seth's friend Chris was marrying
Jenna in his home town. We've also been to Detroit
together - THREE times in one weekend actually 1993! We needed the American
Airlines miles.
Missouri
We went to St. Louis together for Greg's wedding (Tara's friend from high
school). We also returned on our World Tour 2000 and visited Rez and Steph
(Seth's friends from college) who live in Columbia.
New York
Seth's high school friend Tim lived in New York City and Seth, Tim and
their other high school friend, Mark all met in NYC for some Christmas
shopping.
Seth went to visit Tim and go see Pink Floyd in early June 1994 ("last
weekend" as of 14 June 1994). Tara traveled to NYC a lot for work from
1992 to 1998. One trip was especially fun since she met up with her friend
Michelle in July 1997.
Ohio
The first state we visited together was Ohio, so that Tara could meet Seth's
parents. While we lived in Chicago, we went to Columbus often: June
1991, September 1991, December
1991, November 1994, November
1995, etc.
Even after we moved to London, we continued to visit whenever we could:
October 1997
And, even from Tokyo, we've gotten home a few times: July
1998, August 1998, May 1999,
May 2000
Plus we have photos taken
in Columbus that we can't remember exactly when they are from. Columbus
was, of course, a stop on our World Tour 2000 - Home for the Holidays.
Washington
We have been to Seattle since when we were starting our world tour, it
was significantly cheaper to fly into and out of Seattle and then drive
to Vancouver than it was to fly directly into Vancouver. Yet again in February
2001, it was cheaper to fly into and out of Seattle than Vancouver, so
we took the Amtrak to Seattle and spent a night in an airport hotel.
Washington DC
This was a very quick weekend
trip that was a great get-away. We lucked out and saw an event at the
Capitol building at which nearly every major government player was in attendance.
Wisconsin
We went to Madison together for a party at Tara's old company. However,
we never made it to the party!
